EMBASE Classic: Biomedical Literature (1947-1973)

An Essential Companion to EMBASE, EMBASE Alerts, and EMCare on Dialog

This page last modified: 8 September 2012

EMBASE® Classic is available on Dialog (File 772). This important new database, produced by Elsevier, contains the bibliographic records originally published in the 43 Excerpta Medica abstract print journals from 1947 through 1973. Drawn from over 3,000 international titles, EMBASE Classic indexes more than 1.8 million records from the biomedical and pharmacological literature. Abstracts are available for more than 90% of the database records.

Combined with other archive data recently added to Dialog, including BIOSIS Previews® (File 5), Zoological Record Online®, and MEDLINE (1951+ in FILE 155), EMBASE Classic will provide greater context for current and future research. Subscribers to EMBASE Classic will be able to search seamlessly across current EMBASE and EMBASE Classic — more than 13 million records and 60 years of authoritative biomedical literature!
