Identify new technology and innovations in solar energy with Advanced Search look up

A senior scientist wanted to track scientific literature on recent innovations in solar energy. He used Advanced Search in ProQuest Dialog™ to search SciSearch® — a Cited Reference Science Database. Familiar with the database, and wanting to save time, he started by turning off the auto complete feature, which suggests keywords while the searcher enters terms.

pqd-pref-pref.jpgHe decided to use the look up capability in Subjects from the field codes drop list; so, after entering his first concept on the top row, he moved to the second row, opened the field codes drop list, and chose Subjects — SU. Then he clicked on Look up Subjects.

pqd-pref-pref.jpgIn Look up Subjects he entered and checked off five terms: solar-energy, performance, efficiency, energy and power, and then clicked Add to search.

pqd-pref-pref.jpgProQuest Dialog automatically added his subject terms to the second row of Advanced Search with the Subject field code. He limited retrieval to records published during the last three years and clicked Search.

pqd-pref-pref.jpgResults returned and he browsed titles, and previewed records of interest for free, selecting records to work with, view, email, print, save or export along with his search strategy. He noted the presence of his subject terms in the retrieved records by clicking on Subject in the Narrow results by panel.
