Let's take a look at EMCare, an ideal database for conducting nursing and allied healthcare searches that answer fundamental and complex biomedical, healthcare and pharmaceutical questions. ProQuest Dialog offers EMCare in its two largest industry categories—Healthcare and Pharmaceutical and Biomedical. In EMCare you can research neonatal care, occupational health, professional home nursing, coronary care, hospice care and other aspects of healthcare.

Created by Elsivier, EMCare contains content not found in other nursing and allied health databases. A Full author abstract is provided for 75% of all articles. The database is indexed with Emtree terms from Elsevier's thesaurus with nearly 1,500 terms specific to nursing. EMCare covers 1995 to the present and is updated weekly.

EMCare offers comprehensive coverage of a number of allied health issues including education and training, development and management, midwifery, health and health care economics, clinical medical and health care social work, emergency and critical care medicine and much more.

It is ideal for precisely locating information worldwide about a wide range of topics including best practice in pressure ulcer management, published sources of hygiene infections, treatment of stress disorders with psychotherapy and other topics important to the healthcare industry.

EMCare currently contains approximately two million records. It retrieves content from a variety of different sources, among them: peer-reviewed published journals, including more than 100 core nursing titles selected by of Elsevier indexing experts and nursing professionals, trade publications and electronic-only titles.
A little more than half of the journals are shared with Embase. Relevant coverage from MEDLINE is included, and about 67% of CINAHL®, the Cumulative Index to Nursing and Allied Health Literature, journals are included.

The scope of this database is international and the literature of North and South America is the largest at 52%. Asia-Pacific represents about 6% and Europe, the Middle East, and Africa total 42%.
