MEDLINE Publisher: New file on legacy DialogMEDLINE® Publisher (File 152), new on legacy Dialog, contains records with a status of “Publisher” extracted from the National Library of Medicine (NLM) PubMed database. A “Publisher” record in PubMed is an initial version of a record prior to its distribution by NLM as a MEDLINE record. These records subsequently change status in PubMed to “In Data Review.” When the status changes in PubMed, the records are supplied by NLM for the first time as MEDLINE records and are added to legacy Dialog MEDLINE Files 154 and 155. Until now, the Publisher status records have not been available on legacy Dialog. Now you can set up daily Alerts in File 152 to obtain the earliest version of NLM records destined for MEDLINE. Many Publisher status records are for articles published on the Web in advance of a journal issue’s release (i.e. ahead of print citations) that may not have the journal issue, volume or pagination assigned. Publisher records also do not contain descriptors, identifiers or CAS® Registry Numbers. To search File152, use the search and display features available for MEDLINE. For general searches other than Alerts, you may wish to consider using File152 in conjunction with File155 in a OneSearch® session while making use of the Remove Duplicates (RD) command, since Publisher status records in File152 will start to appear over time in File155 in the more complete “In Data Review” form. Periodically, publisher status records in File152, which have been superseded by later versions in File155, will be deleted from File152. |
