Dialog Eliminates Fees for Training
North American Customers Offered Unprecedented Professional Development Opportunities

CARY, N.C., May 29, 2001 — Dialog, a leading provider of online-based information services and a subsidiary of The Thomson Corporation (TSE:TOC), today announced that all registration fees for Dialog training classes in North America have been eliminated, effective May 1, 2001. Customers may now take advantage of the high-quality professional development opportunities offered by Dialog at no charge.

Public training classes are open to any current Dialog customer. The announcement is the latest in a series of initiatives Dialog is taking to better support the needs of its information professional customers. Various promotions on training courses outside the United States, including free training on selected courses, will also be offered.

Libby Trudell, Dialog's senior vice president for Information Professional Market Development, commented, "Our goal is to encourage every researcher to take full advantage of the powerful search techniques and comprehensive content available through Dialog's services. By offering our seminars at no charge, we intend to reduce any barriers that may have prevented new users from becoming proficient searchers, or current customers from brushing up their skills or exploring new content areas."

Training from Dialog has long been recognized both for the quality of the content and the expertise of its instructors. More than 1,000 public training classes are presented at dozens of sites throughout the United States and Canada every year. Customers can choose from more than 40 topics, including not only search basics for Dialog®, DataStar™, and Profound®, but also advanced-level seminars in Pharmaceutical R&D, Patents, Engineering, Competitive Intelligence, and Market Research.

Dialog customers interested in viewing the training schedule and registering for a class can do so online at: http://support.dialog.com/training starting June 1. For more information, call the Dialog Knowledge Center at 1-800-3DIALOG.
