Dialog Teams up with IDC to Bring New Information Technology and E-Commerce Content to Profound®:
IDC Reports Now Available Live Through Dialog's Profound® ResearchLine

Cary, N.C., USA, May 29, 2001 — The Dialog Corporation, a leading provider of online-based information services and a subsidiary of The Thomson Corporation (TSE:TOC), has unveiled a comprehensive addition to its eBusiness and IT content following a deal with global market intelligence company IDC.

Profound users can now access IDC's strategic research and expert analysis, which Dialog anticipates will give users the edge in planning technology investments and developing IT strategies. IDC's complete collection of more than 4,000 reports, bulletins, newsletters and the IDC flash alert will be available through Profound ResearchLine

The reports are likely to appeal to IT professionals, the financial community, and e-business consultants who are looking to respond to a broad range of IT-related challenges, from skills shortages and how to use the web to make business more efficient, to assessing players in the ASP and portal arenas.

"The technology sector is in a state of flux at the moment," said David Brown, senior vice president of Content for Dialog. "We understand the value IDC's reports bring to our customers – providing them with the right information, at the right time has become more important than ever. Our commitment to building relationships with premier IT research providers, such as IDC, enhances our offer significantly and will help our Profound users navigate their journey ahead."

The continuously updated reports will deliver the latest information to Profound users via Profound ResearchLine, which includes an initial loading of more than 270 IDC technology business reports, newsletters and bulletins. Additional IDC reports will be loaded in the coming weeks – with the complete collection available by June 2001.

"This venture between IDC and Dialog benefits all sides," said Dennis Philbin, senior vice president, Internet Products and Partners, IDC. "We can extend our reach, Dialog's service becomes even more comprehensive, and end-users have an increasingly powerful tool at their disposal."

The reports currently are downloadable in full and range in cost between $750 and $4,000. Dialog plans to let users buy the majority of reports on a section-by-section basis. This option will be available six months after the publication date of the designated reports.
