Dialog Establishes New Team Focusing on Information Professional Market Development
Seasoned Professionals to Lead Efforts

CARY, N.C., April 26, 2001 -- Dialog, a leading provider of online-based information services and a subsidiary of The Thomson Corporation (TSE:TOC), today announced the establishment of its Information Professional Market Development team. This group will coordinate and champion all Dialog programming to the information professional and librarian marketplace on a worldwide basis.

In conjunction, Libby Trudell has been named senior vice president, Information Professional Market Development. She has more than 25 years of experience in the information industry, and was most recently senior vice president of strategic development within Dialog.

"Dialog is committed to strengthening its levels of communication with information professionals around the globe," said Trudell. "The establishment of this group is a significant step, building upon on the rich heritage shared by Dialog and the information professional community."

The team also includes Bonnie Snow, a frequent speaker and writer on pharmaceutical and biomedical information, and Ron Kaminecki, a recognized expert in intellectual property applications. They will form the nucleus of an industry resource that can be tapped by expert Dialog searchers worldwide. Betty Jo Hibberd, who formerly managed the distance-learning program at Drexel University, will oversee Dialog’s educational and professional development programs for librarians.

The Information Professional Market Development organization will manage the re-launched Quantum2 professional development program; support ongoing high-level contacts with library associations, including the Special Libraries Association (SLA); enrich Dialog educational programs at library schools; and establish Dialog customer advisory boards. The team will also provide input regarding the needs of the information professional market to assist with product and content development, strategic marketing, sales, and pricing.
