Dialog Offers Tailored News Collection and Delivery Through Intranews
Customized News Feeds Delivered Directly to Customer Intranets Throughout the Day

CARY, N.C., April 26, 2001 -- Dialog, a leading provider of online-based information services and a subsidiary of The Thomson Corporation (TSE:TOC), today announced Intranews, a product that combines the breadth and depth of the company's Profound® online service with the ability to deliver breaking headlines and stories to corporate intranets or portals throughout the day.

Intranews provides users with the news they want when it happens, and integrates into existing technology infrastructures to provide a complete knowledge management and intranet solution.

"Intranews is designed to add value and intelligence to the enterprise," said Roy M. Martin, Jr., president and CEO of Dialog. "Tailored profiling and delivery of individuals' exact news requirements, alongside existing internal and external information, provides a wide range of professionals with the complete decision-making picture."

Intranews, part of Dialog's IntraIntelligence suite of intranet content solutions, processes news wires as soon as they are received. They are then delivered automatically to a user's system in either XML or HTML format.

Intranews content can be tailored to match specific news requirements, providing organizations with unique news profiles — and users with only the news that is relevant to them. Users can choose from thousands of publications throughout the day to keep abreast of the latest developments in their industry or sector, monitor competitors, and track industry and technology trends. Tailored news content is handled using Bright Station's Plc. InfoSort® document classification technology, which understands and categorizes documents by thousands of separate market sectors, locations, companies, and subjects.

"The addition of Intranews means businesses can harness greater potential from their corporate intranets, enabling employees to become true knowledge workers. Dialog will continue to evolve, delivering products and solutions that make a difference to the way people work," Martin concluded.
