Dialog Announces Quantum2
Professional Development Program to Demonstrate Value of Information Professionals

Cary, N.C., USA, May 29, 2001 — Dialog, a leading provider of online-based information services and a subsidiary of The Thomson Corporation (TSE:TOC), today announced plans for a rollout of Quantum2, a development program for information professionals, offering the power to lead change. Quantum2 is now available to Dialog customers in North and South America, and will launch globally in the fall.

The program builds on and enhances a highly successful Dialog program first introduced in 1993. The revitalized Quantum2 provides training and tools to enhance professional development, with a special focus on strategies to develop leadership skills and demonstrate the value of professional information services within organizations.

"Information professionals are constantly facing the need to prove the effectiveness of content selection and managed information access within their organizations," said Libby Trudell, senior vice president, Information Professional Market Development. "Our goals with Quantum2 are to help information professionals not only to communicate the value of information centers, but also to take a leadership role in developing an information strategy for their organizations."

The Quantum2 program will provide tools, training materials, professional development seminars, white papers on knowledge management and other key topics, and networking opportunities to information professionals. These materials will be made available through:

  • the new Quantum2 Web site, to be launched June 1;
  • a series of three new Quantum2 workshops to be delivered at venues such as regional Dialog Update meetings starting in September 2001;
  • ongoing communication to members.

Quantum2 program membership is free and open to information professionals worldwide. To register, visit the Quantum2 Web site at http://quantum.dialog.com.
