Dialog Names Libby Trudell Senior Vice President, Information Professional Market Development

Libby TrudellMOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif., April 26, 2001 — Dialog, a leading provider of online-based information services and a subsidiary of The Thomson Corporation (TSE:TOC), today named Libby Trudell senior vice president, information professional market development.

In this newly established role, Trudell coordinates and champions all Dialog programming to the information professional and librarian marketplace on a worldwide basis. This includes managing the re-launched Quantum2 professional development program; supporting ongoing high-level contacts with library associations, including the Special Libraries Association (SLA); enriching Dialog educational programs at library schools; and establishing Dialog customer advisory boards. Her team also provides input regarding needs of the information professional market to assist with product and content development, strategic marketing, sales, and pricing.

Trudell has more than 25 years experience in the information industry. Since joining Dialog in 1983, she has served in numerous roles, including vice president, product management; vice president, strategic planning; senior director, product marketing; director of marketing and customer services; and marketing manager.

Prior to joining Dialog, Trudell had seven years experience in such positions as customer support, training and marketing for electronic information services including OCLC and RLIN, and overseeing a variety of library automation products. Her career began at the Massachusetts Bureau of Library Extension, administering funding for federal library grants.

Trudell is an active member in SLA, having held roles including chair of the strategic planning committee and of the virtual section for the ITE division, and is currently a director of the San Andreas chapter. She has also served on the editorial board of the Journal of Library Automation and Library HiTech, and has published numerous articles and papers on the information industry.

Trudell holds a Masters in Library Science from Simmons and a BA from Tufts University. She will continue to be based in Mountain View, Calif.
