P R E S S R E L E A S E Dialog Adds Canada's National Post CARY, N.C., USA, April 15, 2002 — Dialog, a Thomson business and a leading worldwide provider of online-based information services and integrated information solutions, today announced that it has added The National Post, one of two national daily newspapers in Canada, to its Dialog® family of online services. Launched in 1998, The National Post has enjoyed meteoric growth as one of Canada's premier sources of journalistic excellence, with a strong focus on news, business and commentary. Its daily readership now approaches one million. The newspaper's business and financial news section, The Financial Post, previously had been available on the Dialog services but now is available in full-text form, the company also said today. Other sections of The National Post — including News, Science and Technology, Commentary, Sports, Diversions and Arts and Leisure — are all now available. The National Post is the latest addition to Dialog's extensive portfolio of international news content. The company recently launched its NewsRoom service, a new online database that combines more than 6,500 sources of news. NewsRoom greatly simplifies the process of tracking news from international, national and local sources. The National Post and The Financial Post are included in the NewsRoom database. "We are delighted to add The National Post to our information services," said David Brown, Dialog senior vice president, content development. "Canada is a sophisticated market for professional online services and we're pleased to offer this important new resource to our Canadian customers as well as to our users worldwide who need to track Canadian news and business." The National Post is now owned by CanWest Global Communications Corp., an international media company based in Winnipeg, Manitoba. CanWest is Canada's largest publisher of daily newspapers and also holds substantial interests in television and radio broadcasting, cable systems, other print publishing and Internet services across Canada and in Australia, New Zealand, Ireland and the United Kingdom, among other international operations. In addition to being part of the integrated NewsRoom database, The National Post may also be electronically searched on the Dialog service in Files 601 (early bird service) and 727 (archives, starting the day after publication).
