Company to demonstrate recently launched services

FRANKFURT — June 3, 2002 — Dialog, a Thomson (TSX:TOC) business and a leading worldwide provider of online-based information services and integrated information solutions, said today that it will use its participation at the ComInfo 2002 conference to mark the 30th anniversary of the company's founding.

The anniversary commemorates the company's role as a pioneer in the online information industry and its standing today as an innovative, customer-focused and technologically sophisticated leader with information sources of unrivalled breadth and depth.

At the conference, which begins here today, Dialog (Stand A8) will focus on new products and services as well as improvements to existing products:

  • Among the new products to be highlighted is NewsRoom, an online database that combines 6,500 sources of continually updated news into a unified file that can be searched using one search command. NewsRoom includes broadcast transcripts, newspapers, periodicals, newswires, trade and scholarly journals and other content sources in eight languages, drawn from nearly 80 countries.

  • Dialog will demonstrate improvements to its Profound® family of products, known for its unsurpassed collection of market research and analysis. These improvements include additions to Profound's market sector indexing terms that reflect consumer and research trends, as well as search tips provided through a Help button.

  • Dialog will also highlight the various services it offers to help customers develop their own customised information solutions, enabling them to select, structure and streamline relevant information and deliver it to all users.

"Since its creation in 1972, Dialog has pursued excellence in its products and services, and now has 25,000 subscribing organizations worldwide," said Ciaran Morton, president of Dialog's Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) operations. "Dialog recently acquired two other leading worldwide information service providers, NewsEdge and Intelligence Data, which will be appearing on our stand at ComInfo 2002. We are also happy that Westlaw International, another Thomson company, will also be appearing on our stand at the show."
