G-Search to Highlight Dialog Information Services for Corporations & Researchers at Database 2002 Tokyo Conference

TOKYO — October 9, 2002 — Dialog, a Thomson business and a leading worldwide provider of online-based information services and integrated information solutions, today said that its long-time strategic partner in the Japanese market, G-Search Ltd., will highlight Dialog information services for corporations and professional researchers at the Database 2002 Tokyo Conference meeting here this week.

Database 2002 Tokyo (www.nikkei.co.jp/events/database/index_e.html) is one of the world's largest gatherings in the information industry, attracting tens of thousands of corporate information managers, business knowledge experts and research professionals.

G-Search (www.gsh.co.jp/), Japan's leading provider of information and knowledge management consulting services, represents Dialog as its sales and marketing agent in the Japanese market.

"Database 2002 Tokyo comes at a particularly important time for our industry and for information professionals in Japan," said Dr. Takashi Nagatsuka, general manager, Content Business Group, G-Search Ltd., a Fujitsu company, and chairman of Japan Database Industry Association (DINA), which is hosting Database 2002 Tokyo. "A number of trends are influencing how businesses can maximize their investments in information services. We are delighted to again highlight Dialog at the conference."

At Database 2002 Tokyo, G-Search will spotlight its GCMS ("G-Search Custom Menu Service"), which incorporates Dialog Intranet Toolkit to offer corporations powerful tools to include external information into their corporate intranets. The service helps companies disseminate news and analysis — such as competitive intelligence and updated industry bulletins — to professionals and managers throughout an enterprise.

G-Search also will exhibit the Dialog e-Journal Linking service, which enables researchers using Dialog online services to find relevant articles and then to seamlessly link from the retrieved citations to the fulltexts of articles published in scholarly journals from around the world. The service helps researchers quickly find the detailed information they need without having to jump between different online services or access individual Web-based services maintained by separate publishers.

Also at Database 2002 Tokyo, Ronald Kaminecki, Dialog director of information professional applications, will participate in a seminar focused on patent searching. Providing electronic access to patent records and other types of intellectual property is one of the hallmarks of Dialog services.
