Company to demonstrate recently launched services

PARIS — June 4, 2002 — Dialog, a Thomson (TSX:TOC) business and a leading worldwide provider of online-based information services and integrated information solutions long active in Europe, said today that it will use its participation at the 19th Annual IDT/Net exhibition, France's premier information industry event, to mark the 30th anniversary of the company's founding.

The anniversary commemorates the company's role as a pioneer in the online information industry and its standing today as an innovative, customer-focused and technologically sophisticated leader of unrivalled breadth and depth.

Among the new products and services Dialog (stand B-01) will be demonstrating at the show are:

  • NewsRoom - an online database that combines 6,500 continually updated news sources. NewsRoom includes broadcast transcripts, newspapers, periodicals, newswires, trade and scholarly journals and other content sources in eight languages from nearly 80 countries.

  • Expanded e-journal linking features — this allows users of Dialog® to link seamlessly to the full text of more than 8,000 scientific, medical and technical e-journals published by more than 40 leading scientific publishers and information aggregators.

  • Improvements to DataStar™ for Private File Hosting service — this enables corporate subscribers to DataStar™Web to upload retrieved articles and reports for integration with other information, such as in-house research and analysis.

"Since its creation in 1972, Dialog has pursued excellence in its products and services," said Ciaran Morton, president of Dialog's Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) operations. "Dialog recently acquired two other leading information service providers, NewsEdge and Intelligence Data, which will be appearing on our stand at IDT. We are also happy that Westlaw International, another Thomson company, will be joining us."
