P R E S S R E L E A S E Dialog Appoints Viji Krishnan VP, Content Development with Global Responsibility LONDON — 23 August, 2002 — Dialog, a Thomson (NYSE: TOC; TSX: TOC) business and a leading worldwide provider of online-based information services and integrated information solutions, announced today that Viji Krishnan has been appointed vice president, content development, with global responsibility. Krishnan manages the collection and licensing of content gathered worldwide from publishers, information aggregators, specialized data services and others, and made available through the various online information services offered by Dialog. "I am delighted to announce the promotion of Viji Krishnan to this key and challenging role at Dialog," said Roy M. Martin, Jr., Dialog CEO and president. Krishnan began her Dialog career in 1997 when she joined one of the company's predecessor organizations as a project manager. The following year, she was promoted to content director with extensive responsibilities for licensing. In 2000, she was appointed vice president for London-based content activities. In her new position, Krishnan now has worldwide responsibilities. She will remain based at the Dialog office in London. Prior to joining Dialog's predecessor company, Krishnan worked as a new business consultant for British Telecom, as a personal financial consultant for Barclays Life Assurance Co Ltd, London, and as a manager for Standard Chartered Bank, India. Krishnan holds a master's in business administration in marketing from City University Business School, London. She also holds a master's in business administration from Osmania University, Hyderabad, India, where she ranked first in her class.
