Dialog to Reach 7,000 Sources on NewsRoom by End of July 2002

Company Announces New Enterprise Pricing

CARY, NC, USA, June 10, 2002 — Dialog, a Thomson (TSX: TOC) business and a leading worldwide provider of online-based information services and integrated information solutions, today announced it will top 7,000 sources in Dialog NewsRoom by the end of July 2002 with more than 1,500 of those sources offering a five-year archive.

The company also announced a new pricing initiative featuring enterprise-wide subscriptions of a fixed monthly fee for unlimited use based on the number of users accessing the database within an organization, in addition to its previously announced US$2.95 per document retrieval fee.

Dialog NewsRoom is a recently launched unified database available for online searching and article retrieval available on the Dialog®-branded platform of online service, as well as the DataStar™ and Profound® services, both also offered by Dialog.

"We've set ambitious goals for ourselves and the NewsRoom service," said Dialog President and CEO Roy M. Martin, Jr. "Our users around the world have asked for a one-stop database for their news tracking and searching needs. Dialog NewsRoom represents the most extensive news content ever assembled on Dialog services and has already proven to be a substantial value-add to the search capabilities of our services. As Dialog NewsRoom content grows and with the introduction of new pricing options, its value to our customers will grow as well."

Since its launch in March 2002, nearly 7,000 sources have been loaded in the Dialog NewsRoom service, including 31 of the world's top 100 circulation newspapers. The breadth of sources also extends to many local and regional titles, providing researchers with a unique perspective on the news. Additionally, thousands of trade publications covering nearly every industry provide timely analysis of business news.

Among the well-known titles available are: The New York Times; The Financial Times; Canada's National Post; United Kingdom's Guardian, Observer and Campaign; and the South China Morning Post. Dialog NewsRoom also makes available sources supplied through e-content redistribution agreements with Gale (also a Thomson business), Global Reporter (whose sources are jointly licensed by Dialog and The Financial Times), ProQuest and other information aggregators.

1,500 Sources with Five-Year Archive
Of the nearly 7,000 sources currently available via Dialog NewsRoom, more than 1,500 offer a rich, five-year archive, with the remaining sources offering two-year archives. Dialog said that the sources would be continuously updated in accordance with the publication cycle of the specific newspaper, periodical or other source.

Dialog NewsRoom sources include broadcast transcripts, newspapers (including hundreds of newspapers from around the world), periodicals, newswires, trade and scholarly journals, and other content sources, in English and seven other languages drawn from nearly 80 countries.
