ComInfo 2003 Frankfurt: Dialog to Highlight Global Reach of Information Services

FRANKFURT (June 2, 2003) — Dialog, a Thomson (TSX: TOC; NYSE: TOC) business and a leading worldwide provider of online-based information services and integrated information solutions, said today that it will highlight the global reach of its information services during the ComInfo 2003 conference being held here this week.

The ComInfo conference (http://www.cominfo2003.de/index.html) is Germany's premier gathering of information professionals.

During the conference, Dialog (booth # 51A) will present customer education seminars for information specialists working in the financial services, law and scientific arenas.

The company will also offer detailed product reviews of its IntelliscopeSM product line, which features investment research and analysis packaged for corporations and other non-financial organizations; its NewsEdge product line, real-time news and alerting services for business users worldwide; and its Dialog Profound® product line, which offers access to market research gathered from around the world.

"Germany is an important market for us," said Ciaran Morton, Dialog executive vice president. "This year, we are particularly eager to meet with our German customers. We've made tremendous enhancements to a number of key products and services that underscore our global reach, and ComInfo is the ideal event at which to introduce them."

Specific enhancements Dialog will highlight include:

  • The addition of trademark files from three Central European countries — never before available through any online vendor — to the Dialog collection of trademark data from around the world.

  • New top-level, country-specific domain records from more than 100 countries added to the Dialog database of more than 95 million Internet domain records, the largest such collection available anywhere.

  • Additional non-English language content — including Germany's Süddeutsche Zeitung, English and Spanish-language content from Germany's leading news agency, dpa Deutche Presse-Agentur, France's Le Monde newspaper and feeds from Spain's EFE news agency — now available through Dialog® NewsRoom, the fast-growing database of business news and analysis gathered from more than 7,500 global news sources.

  • A new collection of highly valued market research reports added to the Dialog database of more than 200,000 market research reports, provided by leading market research firms worldwide.

Dialog also said it would preview upcoming enhancements to its intellectual property information collection, including the addition of pre-grant publications to the U.S. Patents fulltext file, a new German fulltext patent database (with integrated English-language machine translations) and daily updating of the U.S. federal trademarks file.
