Dialog®PRO Wins e-Content Award at Information Highways Conference

Canada's Leading Information Industry Event Honours Online Service Designed for Small Businesses Worldwide

TORONTO (March 25, 2003) — Dialog, a Thomson (TSX: TOC; NYSE: TOC) business and a leading worldwide provider of online-based information services and integrated information solutions, said today that DialogPRO Competitive Intelligence has won the e-Content Award for best business information service at the Information Highways conference meeting here this week.

The award was announced at the conference opening banquet last night in Toronto. The annual Information Highways conference and showcase, Canada's leading e-Content event, is sponsored by the Toronto-based e-Content Institute.

"All of us at Dialog, particularly those who have worked so diligently on DialogPRO, are extremely proud to have our service honoured with this prestigious award," said Cynthia Murphy, Dialog senior vice president, Strategic Marketing. "We set out to build a product for small businesses that would help them easily utilize premium business information content as an asset for success. The recognition of DialogPRO from the e-Content Institute tells us we're doing the right thing."

Juanita Richardson, an information professional and chairperson of the judging committee, said: "The creation of a product specifically designed for the small and medium business is especially creative, and the overall design shows an insight into the information needs of small business owners — particularly in terms of content, comfort level with database searching and price.

"DialogPRO rates highly for innovation, quality, benefits to customers and accessibility," Richardson noted.

The DialogPRO ("Predictable Research Online") online service, the first Dialog product designed exclusively for small businesses worldwide, offers easy access to information culled from the more than 15 terabytes of information Dialog has gathered from around the world.

Dialog content is a continually updated repository known for its depth and breadth, from newspapers and wire services offering real-time news and business analysis, to deep databases of intellectual property data, such as patents and trademark records — all backed by precision searching tools and automated alerting features.

DialogPRO users subscribe to one or more content channels that best meet their business needs. The 10 content channels currently offered are: Advertising, Biotech, Competitive Intelligence, Consulting, Defense, Engineering, Energy, News, Patent and Trademark, with more expected to be added this year.

For examples of information sources available through each content channel, please visit http://www.dialog.com/products/dialogpro/.

Subscription tiers are available within each content channel. The three tiers — Primary, Plus and Premier — vary by the number and type of information sources provided.

For example, Primary packages include "must have" news relevant to the content channel chosen. The Plus tier contains additional sources focused on commentary and analysis. Premier offers the most complete information solution, with a comprehensive collection of content made available to the subscribing small business owner or department manager.

Additionally, all DialogPRO subscribers may also search for and then retrieve articles and reports from information sources not included in their subscription tier on a transactional basis. The price for a selected document is displayed onscreen before the user makes a final determination to buy it.

DialogPRO is available only to small businesses, as determined by revenue size. The revenue threshold varies by country.
