P R E S S R E L E A S E Dialog Adds Global Records to Domain Names Database CARY, N.C., USA (June 12, 2003) — Dialog, a Thomson (TSX: TOC; NYSE: TOC) business and a leading worldwide provider of online-based information services and integrated information solutions, said today that it has added top-level, country-specific domain records from more than 100 countries to its Internet Domain Names database. Country code top-level domains (referred to as "ccTLDs") are those Web addresses ending in an abbreviation for a home country, such as .nl for the Netherlands or .fr for France. With more than 95 million current and historic Internet domain name
records, including detailed information for about 25 million currently
active domain names, the Dialog Domain Names database (File 225) is
the largest collection of domain name information available from any
information vendor in the world. A domain name is an alphanumeric name or Web address used to identify a particular site on the Internet. The historical records of domain name registrations are important because they enable Dialog users to follow trails of domain registration transfers and changes. For example, a user might search by a single e-mail address or company name to pinpoint domain names associated with that piece of data, and then track transfers or other changes to that registration. The Dialog Domain Names Database is available through the online services
