Dialog to Highlight Information Solutions for Enterprises, Web Integration at Online Information 2003

Company to Showcase Its Dialog Portals, Dialog API, Dialog NewsEdge® and Dialog Profound® Services

LONDON (28 November 2003) — Dialog, a Thomson (NYSE: TOC; TSX: TOC) business and a leading worldwide provider of online-based information services and integrated information solutions, today said that it will focus on recently launched information integration tools at the upcoming Online Information 2003 conference to be held here 2-4 December.

The company also said it would showcase four of its services — Dialog Portals, Dialog API, Dialog NewsEdge® and Dialog Profound® — at the London conference, the largest annual gathering of information professionals in the world.

"The information industry is changing, and we are at the forefront of the transformation," said Roy M. Martin, Jr., Dialog president and CEO. "Today, the imperative is to offer the tools necessary to integrate information into in-house networks and professional and consumer services on the open Web. We must reach professionals as part of their day-to-day workflows and individuals as a component of their interactivity with Web services. And we must give those professionals and individuals the knowledge resources they need to be more successful."

Dialog recently launched two software services to help managers of corporate portals, intranets, Web-based consumer and professional services and others readily incorporate its collection of more than 14 terabytes of information gathered from around the world.

The two services are:

  • DIALOG PORTALS, a next-generation information service that allows mission-critical business news, research and competitive intelligence to be integrated into enterprise portals. Available content categories include business and financial information, news and market research, as well as science, technology and medical (STM) information and intellectual property records.

  • DIALOG API (Application Programming Interface), a Web Service that enables Dialog content and its search engine to be integrated transparently into Web sites, enterprise portals, corporate extranets, software applications and other interactive services.

Other Services to Be Showcased

Among the Dialog services to be showcased at Online Information 2003 are:

  • Dialog Profound, an information service specializing in global market research.

  • Dialog NewsEdge, an industry-specific, personalised current awareness and news alerting service for corporations that features customised editorial ranking personally managed by Dialog editors specializing in various industry sectors.
