Dialog Seeks Applicants in Europe, the Middle East & Africa for 2003 Roger K. Summit Scholarship
LONDON (5 June 2003) — Dialog, a Thomson (TSX: TOC; NYSE: TOC) business and a leading worldwide provider of online-based information services and integrated information solutions, said today that it is seeking applicants from Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA) for its annual Roger K. Summit Scholarship.
Dialog will award a €5,000 scholarship to a student from the EMEA region enrolled in an accredited library or information sciences graduate-level programme. The EMEA prize will be announced at the 2003 Online Information Conference and Exhibition at Olympia in London, to be held in December.
The deadline for applications is 24 October 2003. Applications are available at http://gep.dialog.com/scholarship/.
Dialog awards three Roger K. Summit Scholarships annually, one each in North America, the EMEA region, and in the Asia Pacific region. The scholarships are in honour of the founder of Dialog, who was a pioneer in developing the technology behind online information retrieval. Dr. Summit is chairman emeritus of the company.
A panel of information professionals and educators selects the regional winners after reviewing academic achievement, interest in electronic information services, proficiency using Dialog online services and faculty recommendations.
The scholarship program is part of an array of Dialog initiatives designed to support the professional development of information specialists around the world.
