Dialog Enhances Its ToxFile Database

Company Integrates TOXLINE® Special Data, Creating One-Stop Research Service for Toxicology-Related Information

CARY, N.C., USA (April 3, 2003) — Dialog, a Thomson (TSX: TOC; NYSE: TOC) business and a leading worldwide provider of online-based information services and integrated information solutions, said today that it has enhanced its ToxFile database by integrating additional toxicology material, making the ToxFile database a one-stop resource for finding a range of articles, reports and proceedings related to toxicology.

ToxFile, accessible through the Dialog® and Dialog DataStar™ family of online services, offers a variety of information sources focused on toxicology subjects such as the side effects of drugs and the impact of pollution on human health.

The database is widely used by researchers, product managers and others at pharmaceutical, chemical, biotechnology and food companies, as well as by regulators, law firms, consultancies and others concerned with issues related to toxicology.

Previously, ToxFile on Dialog consisted of only journal materials provided by the U.S. National Library of Medicine (NLM), a data set also referred to as TOXLINE® Core by the NLM.

To that TOXLINE® Core material, Dialog has now added material from TOXLINE® Special, also provided by the NLM. TOXLINE® Special consists of 15 data sets covering toxicology, hazardous chemicals and related areas, as well as references from an assortment of specialized journals and other sources published by government departments and international organizations.

Other information providers contributing content to ToxFile through the NLM include the International Labor Office, the Swedish National Chemicals Inspectorate and others.
