Dialog Seeks European, Middle Eastern & African Applicants for 2004 Roger K. Summit Scholarship

LONDON (26 May 2004) — Dialog, a Thomson (NYSE: TOC; TSX: TOC) business and a leading worldwide provider of online-based information services and integrated information solutions, announced today that it is seeking applicants from Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA) for its third annual Roger K. Summit Scholarship to be offered in the region.

The company will award a €5,000 scholarship to a student from the EMEA region enrolled in an accredited library or information sciences course. The prize will be awarded at the 2004 Online Information Conference and Exhibition, to be held 30 November — 2 December in London.

The deadline for applicants is 22 October 2004. Applications are available at gep.dialog.com/scholarship/application.

Dialog awards three scholarships annually, one each in North America, EMEA and in the Asia Pacific region.

A panel of local information professionals and educators selects the regional winners after reviewing academic achievement, interest in electronic information services, proficiency using Dialog online services and faculty recommendations.

The scholarship programme is part of an array of Dialog initiatives in support of professional development. It is named in honour of Dr. Roger K. Summit, Dialog founder and a well-known pioneer in the online information field. Summit is chairman emeritus of Dialog.
