Dialog Adds Mexican Trademarks to Intellectual Property Portfolio

SAN ANTONIO, TX, USA (July 19, 2005) — Dialog, a Thomson (NYSE: TOC; TSX: TOC) business and a leading worldwide provider of online-based information services and integrated information solutions, said today that it has added TRADEMARKSCAN®-Mexico (File 668) to its portfolio of intellectual property records and research gathered from around the world.

Dialog made the announcement at the 98th Annual Conference of the American Association of Law Libraries meeting this week in San Antonio.

TRADEMARKSCAN-Mexico includes approximately 500,000 trademark registrations filed with Mexican authorities from 1976 to the present with additional information available on published registrations from 1993 forward. It also includes most trademarks filed before 1976. Goods and services information is translated into English and may be searched in either English or Spanish.

"Our new file will be an invaluable resource for companies currently or planning on doing business in Mexico, as well as those competing against Mexican-based companies," said Viji Krishnan, Dialog vice president, publisher management. "As international trade with Mexico continues to increase, a wide range of legal, marketing and competitive intelligence professionals will benefit from the newest addition to our intellectual property portfolio."

Data in TRADEMARKSCAN-Mexico is updated upon publication of the trademark gazette issued by the Mexican government, the most frequent updating schedule offered by any information service. Dialog Alerts can be established in TRADEMARKSCAN-Mexico to deliver information on new registrations.

Also included in TRADEMARKSCAN-Mexico are trademark images, slogans and business name information. Users can search for trademark records by keywords and quickly locate trademark owners, view trademark images and see similar trademarks in the same class of goods or services.

"The benefits of using Dialog for intellectual property research are highlighted through the new TRADEMARKSCAN-Mexico file," Krishnan said. "Our users worldwide can search just our new Mexican data or multiple files of North American or global records simultaneously. That ability to do both focused and broadly comprehensive trademark research can translate into more informed business decisions and more robust protection of intellectual property assets."

With the addition of the new Mexican file, Dialog now offers a total of 27 trademark files drawn from more than 20 countries and two transborder patent authorities (the International Register and the European Union), as well as records from the United States and Canada. The combined total number of trademark records available through Dialog surpasses 17 million.

Dialog offers access to an extensive collection of other intellectual property research, such as patents, copyright, prior art databases and domain name records.
