Dialog Announces 2006 Roger Summit Scholarship Winner From China

Annual €5,000 Scholarship Given to Promising Information Sciences Student

London UK, November 28, 2006 — Dialog, a Thomson business, today announced Liu Ying, a graduate student at Wuhan University, China, as the 2006 winner of the Roger K. Summit Scholarship award for Europe, the Middle East, Asia Pacific, and Africa. Dialog made the announcement at the Online Information 2006 conference meeting here this week.

Liu, who is currently pursuing a doctorate degree in information science, received her award at a special presentation held in Shanghai.

Named in honor of Dialog founder and Chairman Emeritus Roger K. Summit, a pioneer in developing the technology behind online information retrieval, the scholarship is awarded in different regions of the world to graduate students enrolled in library or information sciences programs.

"Through her stellar academic performance, Ms. Liu has proven her passion and dedication to the field of information sciences, and we are confident she will continue to achieve great things," said Libby Trudell, Dialog vice president of information professional market development.

"As China continues to develop as a global leader in innovation and consumer of information, it is important that we encourage a new generation of information scientists to meet the growing needs of China and the entire Asia-Pacific region."

Liu is expected to graduate with her doctorate degree in July 2009. She also holds a bachelor's degree and master's degree in information science, both from Wuhan University. Since 1995, Liu has worked in the reference department of the Wuhan University's research library, where she currently is deputy head of the department.

Dialog's Roger K. Summit scholarships are awarded based on proficiency in using online information services, as well as academic performance and the recommendations of faculty and others. For more information about the scholarship program, please visit gep.dialog.com/scholarship.
