A DialogLink 5 Exclusive — Simultaneous Chemical Structure Searching in Multiple Drug Pipeline Files

Atlanta, GA, US, March 27, 2006 — Chemical researchers who want to save time and ensure the completeness of their chemical structure searches will find a unique feature in DialogLink 5 that meets their needs. Through DialogLink 5, researchers can conduct a chemical structure search in multiple drug pipeline files simultaneously. Dialog (www.dialog.com), a Thomson business, is currently the only major information aggregator to offer this functionality and it will showcase the powerful feature at the 231st American Chemical Society (ACS) Spring Meeting.

"Simultaneous chemical searching across multiple drug pipeline files saves researchers time and money by offering a single, comprehensive search of relevant, drug pipeline databases, making it easier than ever to identify potentially competitive compounds earlier in the development process," said Bob Stewart, Dialog Senior Manager, Product Marketing. "This unique capability also minimizes the risk of a researcher missing a critical piece of information when searching for chemical compounds."

Chemical structure searching features on DialogLink 5 also include substructure highlighting in retrieved records, as well as the ability to edit retrieved structures. It also allows researchers to use any chemical structure drawing software that can create an industry standard MDL MOL file to generate the structure query for a Dialog chemical structure search.

With DialogLink 5, Chemical researchers can set up Alerts by chemical structure in some databases to scan newly added research and automatically pinpoint targeted chemical structures. Dialog Alerts generate automatic e-mail notifications when new content is added that matches the searcher’s profile to provide current awareness of topics specified by the searcher.

Databases on Dialog now available for chemical structure searching include:

  • Beilstein Facts (File 390)
  • Derwent Chemistry Resource (File 355)**
  • IMS Patent Focus (File 447,947)
  • IMS R&D Focus (File 445,955
  • Index Chemicus (File 302)**
  • Pharmaprojects (Files 128,928)**
  • Prous Science Drug Data Report (File 452)**
  • Prous Science Drugs of the Future (File 453)

**Chemical structures can be added to Alerts for these select files.

Graphical structure searching of researching databases is part of a portfolio of tools and features available through the DialogLink 5 software package. DialogLink 5 also features tools to help information professionals integrate information retrieved through Dialog searches into reports and enterprise information-sharing systems, such as portals and intranets. DialogLink 5 software is now available for free download at www.dialog.com/products/dialoglink.

Bob Stewart will be presenting on "Chemical Structure Searching in Multiple Drug Pipeline Databases using DialogLink 5" from 2:15 to 3:00 p.m., Tuesday, March 28, 2006, at the American Chemical Society 2006 meeting in Atlanta, Georgia. The presentation will be held in the Presentation Theatre, Halls B2 & B3, of the Georgia World Congress Center

Dialog also will be exhibiting at the American Chemical Society 2006 meeting March 26-30 as part of the Thomson Scientific booth (#402 and #404). You are invited to stop by to learn more about Chemical Structure Searching in DialogLink 5, as well as other Dialog and DataStar products.
