Dialog Invites Future Information Professionals to Apply for Annual Scholarship

Cary, NC, USA, London UK, January 17, 2007 — Dialog, a Thomson business, today announced that it is seeking applicants from North America for the 2007 Roger K. Summit Scholarship. This US$5,000 award is given annually to a promising graduate student in library and information sciences.

The deadline for the 2007 North American scholarship award is April 30, 2007. The winner will be announced at the Special Libraries Association annual conference, to be held June 4-7, 2007, in Denver, CO, USA.

“In the years ahead, greater importance will be placed on information professionals and the value they bring to organizations in every industry,” said Libby Trudell, Dialog senior vice president of information professional development. “We are already seeing revitalization within the information industry. There are great things happening in regard to new technologies, processes and techniques, and Dialog and Thomson Scientific are committed to investing in the next generation of information professionals to continue this work.”

Dialog awards two scholarships annually, one each to a graduate student enrolled in an accredited library or information sciences program in North America and one in Europe, the Middle East, Asia Pacific and Africa. The scholarship program is named in honor of Dialog founder and Chairman Emeritus Roger K. Summit, a pioneer in developing the technology behind online information retrieval.

A panel of North American information professionals will select the winner after reviewing academic achievement, interest in electronic information services, proficiency using Dialog online services and faculty recommendations.
