Thomson Reuters Announces Recipients of 2008 North American InfoStar Awards

Philadelphia, PA, June 18, 2008 — Thomson Reuters, the world’s leading source of intelligent information for business and professionals, today announced the two recipients of its 2008 North American Quantum2 InfoStar Awards, which are presented annually to information professionals whose achievements demonstrate leadership and inspire others in their industry. This year's recipients, as announced during a special ceremony at the Special Libraries Association (SLA) conference on June 17 in Seattle, WA, are:

  • Lee Pharis,manager, Information Services, Exponent, Inc., (Menlo Park, CA) — honored for her ability to innovate, while also finding practical ways to enhance existing processes. She has evidenced these qualities in her work with Exponent, as well as her leadership role with the SLA. As president of her SLA chapter, Lee was instrumental in establishing a new strategic plan and discovering new ways to recognize those who contributed to SLA.
  • Karen Reczek, senior manager, Information Resources Center, Bureau Veritas Consumer Products Services, Inc., ( Buffalo, NY) — recognized for her deep experience in information services. She has successfully found opportunities to add value within her organization, such as shifting the focus of the information center into a knowledge management and competitive intelligence resource. Karen is an activist who serves as a leader in various professional associations.
