Dialog Announces Roger K. Summit Scholarship Winner

Koster will complete masters with help from Dialog

December 2, 2008 (Cary, North Carolina and London, UK) — Dialog, a leader in online information services for professional searchers, has awarded the 2008 Roger K. Summit Scholarship for the Europe, Middle East, Asia Pacific and Africa region to Esther (“Essi”) Koster of the Department of Information Science, University of Pretoria in South Africa.  The scholarship was presented at a ceremony at the Online Information conference in London.

Ms. Koster is currently pursuing a master’s research program and an assistant lectureship at University of Pretoria. She is expected to complete her studies in April 2009.

"This scholarship is aimed at ensuring that students such as Essi — smart, engaging and passionate about the role of information professionals in the research process — are welcomed into our industry,” said Libby Trudell, senior vice president, market development. "She is an outstanding student doing important research and we’re proud to support her.”

Dialog’s flagship scholarship program is named in honor of Dialog founder Roger K. Summit, a pioneer in developing the technology behind online information retrieval. It is awarded twice annually, one to a graduate student enrolled in an accredited library or information sciences program in the Americas and one in Europe, the Middle East, Asia Pacific and Africa. Scholarship winners must demonstrate proficiency in using Dialog®, academic achievement, and interest in the field of electronic information services.
