Dialog Invites Future Information Professionals to Apply for Annual Scholarship

Roger K. Summit Scholarship applications are due by April 30

January 23, 2009 (Morrisville, North Carolina) — Dialog, a leader in online information services for professional searchers, is seeking applicants from North America for its 2009 Roger K. Summit Scholarship. The US $5,000 award is one of two scholarships given annually to promising graduate students in library and information sciences. The current application period applies to North American students, while a second award will be presented to a student from Europe, the Middle East, Asia Pacific or Africa later in 2009.

"We believe in the role of the information professionals and are committed to growing their ranks at all levels, whether it's through professional development for seasoned professionals or providing financial support to students," said Libby Trudell, vice president, market development. "The Roger K. Summit scholarship is an important piece in our give-back to the community that's been such a large part of Dialog's identity."

The deadline for the 2009 North American scholarship is April 30, 2009. Candidates must be enrolled in an accredited library or information sciences program in North America. A panel of local information professionals will select the winner based upon academic achievement, faculty recommendations, interest in electronic information services and proficiency using Dialog® online services.

The winner will be announced at the centennial celebration of the Special Libraries Association, to be held June, in Washington, DC.

The Roger K. Summit Scholarship is named in honor of Dialog founder and Chairman Emeritus Roger K. Summit, a pioneer in developing the technology behind online information retrieval. Since 1993, Dialog has presented 24 scholarships.
