Dialog and QUOSA Team Up to Make Search Results Easier to Manage

DataStar search is first to be streamlined through QUOSA Software

March 26, 2009 (Morrisville, North Carolina) — Dialog, a leader in online information services for professional searchers, and QUOSA will enable their shared customers to explore full text and search results from Dialog's DataStar platform, using QUOSA's powerful document management tools. The integration with DataStar is the first step in a larger relationship that will include Dialog platform products later this year.

"This relationship is part of Dialog's ongoing commitment to make Dialog content easier to use and analyze," said Suzanne BeDell, Dialog General Manager. "QUOSA is an industry—leader in document management products. Combining its skills with Dialog's deep, authoritative content—sets helps our customers to be more efficient as they process and use the information they uncover using the DataStar platform."

QUOSA creates tools specifically designed to streamline the acquisition, review, and analysis of large bodies of scholarly articles — ideal for professional searchers. Under the agreement, Dialog's DataStar customers who also subscribe to QUOSA will be able to use QUOSA's Information Manager for dramatically more efficient article retrieval and full—text search on the corpus of articles. QUOSA will also enable better management of search results and imported documents. For example, reviewing articles is simpler through user—friendly file naming and a summary pane that allows researchers to go directly to the passages that interest them in the articles they've saved. It's just one of a several tools designed by QUOSA to support the type of research conducted by Dialog customers.

"We are very pleased to have forged this important interworking relationship with Dialog," said Malcolm MacKenzie, President of QUOSA. "As of now, DataStar users can use QUOSA Information Manager to significantly accelerate the workflow behind the acquisition of new insights based on the scientific literature for a variety of purposes, such as the search for new targets or drug safety vigilance."
