New Content in Dialog Expands Business Resources and Authoritative Medical Journals

The Lancet returns to Dialog®

May 19, 2009 (Morrisville, North Carolina) — Dialog, a leader in online information services for professional searchers, has added new content to its Dialog® and DataStar® platforms, significantly enhancing medical and business information resources. These platforms are best known for their ability to power deep and precise searches of authoritative content.

"Dialog users are information pros. They're not looking for just any information; they're seeking the nugget that no one has seen before — the one that adds exactly the right insight," said Suzanne BeDell, Dialog general manager. "Our job is to consistently add fresh, high quality content to our platforms to make that eureka moment happen."

Among the new content sources is The Lancet, the world's leading independent general medical journal. Stringently edited and peer-reviewed to ensure scientific merit and clinical relevance, The Lancet is known for its independent, authoritative voice in global medicine. Its publishing history includes reports on numerous medical breakthroughs since 1823, including shell shock therapy, penicillin, and birth defects plus recent medical advancements such as the identification of coronavirus as a possible cause of SARS. Its international focus and coverage of all aspects of human health make it a key gateway for medical information research. Lancet Infectious Diseases, Lancet Oncology and Lancet Neurology will also be available through Dialog and DataStar. The content has a two-month embargo from its appearance in hard copy.

Additionally, more than 300 new sources have been added to ABI/INFORM, the foremost source for authoritative business information, and 400 new sources have been added to Periodical Abstracts Plus, a cornerstone resource providing cover-to-cover indexing and abstracting of articles from more than 1,800 general-reference publications.

These content additions are part of an initiative of Dialog and ProQuest to make ProQuest's expansive selection of authoritative, full-text content more widely available to Dialog's traditional markets. The new initiative enriches the ProQuest resources available through the Dialog and DataStar platforms and also makes complementary ProQuest products on their traditional ProQuest platforms available through Dialog sales channels.
