Dialog Invites Future Information Professionals to Apply for Annual Scholarship

Roger K. Summit International Scholarship applications due by October 30

June 8, 2009 (Morrisville, North Carolina) — Dialog, a leader in online information services for professional searchers, is seeking international applicants for its 2009 Roger K. Summit Scholarship. The EU 5,000 award is one of two scholarships given annually to promising graduate students in library and information sciences. The current application period applies to students from Europe, the Middle East, Asia Pacific and Africa. The winner of the scholarship will be honored at the International Online Conference and Exhibition in London in December.

"We believe in the role of the information professionals and are committed to growing their ranks at all levels, whether it's through professional development for seasoned professionals or providing financial support to students," said Libby Trudell, vice president, market development. "The Roger K. Summit scholarship is an important piece in our give-back to the community that's been such a large part of Dialog's identity."

The deadline for the 2009 International scholarship is October 30, 2009. Candidates must be enrolled in an accredited library or information sciences degree program. A panel of local information professionals will select the winner based upon academic achievement, faculty recommendations, interest in electronic information services and proficiency using Dialog® online services.

The Roger K. Summit Scholarship is named in honor of Dialog founder and Chairman Emeritus Roger K. Summit, a pioneer in developing the technology behind online information retrieval. Since 1993, Dialog has presented 24 scholarships.

The application and further information is available at http://gep.dialog.com/scholarship/application.
