Dialog Sponsors Sixth Annual SLA Award for Australian and New Zealand Information Professionals Nominations to be accepted through April 30 for the AUD2000 prize February 17, 2010 (Morrisville, North Carolina) – Dialog, a leader in online information services for professional searchers, will sponsor the Australia and New Zealand Chapter of the Special Library Association’s (SLA) Informational Professional of the Year Award for the sixth consecutive year. “As we review the nominations for this award, we get a glimpse of the innovative work that’s happening in Australia and New Zealand,” said Suzanne BeDell, Dialog general manager. “This award is particularly gratifying for Dialog because it gives us a vehicle for highlighting their creativity for all the world’s information professionals to learn from.” The award carries a cash prize of AUD2,000 and is open to all information professionals in Australia and New Zealand. Nominees must describe the contribution they have made to the profession. The contribution may be associated with a new product or service, an innovative approach to management or service delivery, or a major paper that has led to a better appreciation of the role of information among users of their services or a wider audience. A special panel of SLA Australia and New Zealand Chapter board members and regional Dialog management will select the winner, who will be announced at the SLA Annual Conference, June 2010, in New Orleans. “This is an important recognition of the high level of professionalism Down Under,” said Jeanette Regan, Awards Chair for the SLA Australia and New Zealand Chapter and contact point for the award. “Each year, the nominations are instructive of where this dynamic industry is going. I hope we’ll hear from both established and emerging leaders from our region.” Nominations are due by April 30, 2010 and should be emailed to Ms. Regan at jregan@grapevine.net.au. Any questions regarding the nomination process and selection criteria should also be directed to her. Individuals may nominate themselves or others.
