New Dialog File is the World's Most Comprehensive English Language Resource on Chinese Patents

Chinese Patents Fulltext allows researchers to explore growth of Chinese innovation

May 17, 2010 (Morrisville, North Carolina) — The world's first and only complete collection of Chinese patent applications, grants and utility models in English is now available through Dialog's newest intellectual property database. Chinese Patents Fulltext (Dialog^® File 325) captures all 25 years of full text information from the inception of the modern Chinese patent Authority (SIPO), providing searchers with a definitive source for tracking the country's explosive growth in patents. Dialog, a leader in online information services for professional searchers, also includes TrademarkScan^®–China in its vast content collection.

Content in the file — nearly 4 million CN patent documents including applications, grants, and utility models — is translated from Chinese to English using state-of-the-art machine translation software along with human assistance. The records include the patent title, abstract, inventors, description, claims, priority information and other fields along with the most current legal status information available. While documents date from 1985, approximately 10,000-12,000 new and updated patent documents are expected to be added weekly, within two weeks after publication by SIPO. Nearly all the documents have a Chinese language PDF document available for download via Dialog eLinks and more than 80% also include a clipped front-page image.
