Use Track Charges for Billing on ProQuest Dialog
ProQuest Dialog makes it easy to get great answers. Some searchers, such as attorneys, paralegals, researchers or consultants, may need to track charges incurred while using ProQuest Dialog so they can bill their clients. To set up and use project codes in ProQuest Dialog, just cut and paste the following tip, and it’s ready to send to your users!
There are two steps: 1) ProQuest Dialog administrator sets up the prompt in ProQuest Administrator Module (PAM); 2) Searchers log on to ProQuest Dialog and enter or choose a project code.
Part 1: Administrator
- Log on to the Administrator Module (http://admin.proquest.com/logon) to set up a project code prompt.
- Click User Interface, the first item on the left panel.
- Click Interface Settings.
- Click Transactional Account Settings. If you want your searchers to enter their own project codes, check the boxes for Enable project code tracking and Require users to enter project code. Click Save changes.
Part 2: Searcher
- Log onto ProQuest Dialog, enter a project tracking code and click Continue.
- Choose databases and conduct a search in Basic, Advanced or Command Line Search. A Price Preview link appears on all transactional accounts.
- Click Cost Estimate when you have completed your search, including post-processing.
- A date- and time-stamped estimated charges report displays, showing how many records viewed and databases searched.
- Click the tab for Charges by database to see a rundown of charges for documents displayed in each file. You can download a CSV spreadsheet and save it as a workbook. The spreadsheet shows the date, time, estimated costs and the project code.
