Enhanced de-duplication streamlines your search

The latest release of ProQuest Dialog brought enhancements to the de-duplication functionality and features:

  • “Real time” de-duplication
  • De-duplication algorithm comparing article title, publication title and publication year, along with normalized Greek symbols, to increase the number of duplicates identified
  • Improved workflows for including and excluding duplicate documents
  • Clearly identified results and recent searches that have had or have not had duplicates removed

Workflow enhancements

Remove duplicatesYou now can quickly choose to include or remove duplicates directly from the results page – making comparisons and identification much easier. Note the duplicate records in the sample. Click Remove Duplicates to eliminate duplicate records from the results.

Additional messaging has been added to the Results page, Recent Searches and exported search histories to make it clear when duplicates are included or excluded in document counts. Look for a message when you see an asterisk next to Results counts. Click the orange information icon to view more details.

You can set and apply database preferences for your session by choosing “Change database order” after duplicates are removed. Whenever a new search is run, apply your settings by clicking “Apply preferred databases.” You will be informed that your settings are applied, and you will see unique documents based on your preferences. See Cut-Paste-Send from the April Chronolog for a video illustrating this process.
